Praktika Lietuvos ambasadoje Londone

My Erasmus+ internship at the Embassy of Lithuania in the UK was nothing short of exciting. It was my first time in the UK, first time in London, first step into my future career.

Having graduated from Journalism study programme, I have always wondered what it is like being on the other side of the spectrum, working in Public Relations representing a specific company instead of serving a public interest as a journalist. When the Embassy representative contacted me with an offer to intern with them as an Assistant Press Officer, I was delighted and eager to go to London.

What was it like? I really enjoyed being in fast-paced environment, contributing to organising various Embassy events, meeting new people. No two days were the same. I also gained valuable experience creating press releases in both English and Lithuanian, performing various administrative tasks, responding to enquiries from citizens as well as media representatives.

Being a part of the Embassy team was truly a remarkable experience. I believe that the internship helped me acquire new skills and improve the existing ones, which will be really helpful in my future career.

The only advice I have for students wondering if interning abroad is worth it or not is – don’t hesitate! It’s travelling and gaining work experience combined, it really opens your mind and presents now unexpected possibilities!
