My internship at Simon Verlag für Bibliothekswissen, a specialised publishing house in Berlin

I have just finished my 4-month internship at Simon Verlag für Bibliothekswissen, a specialised publishing house in Berlin, encompassing library and information science, modern music and memoirs. As Simon Verlag für Bibliothekswissen is a small publishing house with no real probabilities of hiring more employees, the increasing scope of my tasks embraced visual communication, researching and editing.

The publishing house distributed my designed posters, flyers, invitations and postcards, as I attempted to create a meaningful synthesis between both verbal and visual communication. I also had to write English texts and edit a book on librarianship, as well as carry out market research. Working within the field of publishing challenged me to search for creative solutions and actively undertake daily tasks. Moreover, I could also develop my organisational skills, as we were preparing for the Leipzig Book Fair in March and a book event at the Embassy of Lithuania in April.

This kaleidoscopic range of assignments has given me the gift of appreciating not only dynamic work, but also mundane challenging experiences that have led to improving a great variety of my personal skills.
