Doctor to be: My practical experience at the hospital in Germany
After graduation from the Vilnius University and completing my Master’s Degree in Medicine I decided to gain more international experience in Germany. I am very happy that I had a possibility to spend two months in the St. Vinzenz-Hospital in Köln.
I did my internship in the Clinic of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Therapy and Pain Treatment. During this internship I developed my knowledge about the basics of Anaesthesia, Intensive therapy and Pain management. Moreover, I got practical skills in the general and regional anaesthesia. Besides, I was provided the opportunity to assist doctors during many procedures. All colleagues were very kind and supervised me during the internship to enable my practical learning in this area of medicine.
I believe that I had a very useful time in the hospital and had enough time to discover Köln too. Köln is situated on the river Rhein in North Rhine-Westphalia and is the fourth largest city in Germany with around one million residents. It is one of the most liberal cities in Germany with very friendly people.
I recommend to everyone to visit Köln and do not miss an opportunity to gain more experience in the other country.
