Absolventų praktika Andreas Danos advokatų kontoroje Kipre

After graduating from Vytautas Magnus University, Faculty of Law, I understood that I have the last chance to participate in Erasmus+ program. I’ve never done this before while studying, so I was really happy when I received this opportunity. I chose to go to Cyprus for my traineeship and now I can say that it was one of the best experiences in my life.

I was working at Andreas Danos Law Firm in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. I actually miss the atmosphere of the firm. It is a very open and transparent company within, that encourages trust and cohesiveness among staff. Someone was always there to instruct me and answer any questions I may had. The working environment was friendly and professional. Any recent graduate of a law-related program would benefit from the structure and experience that this successful firm can provide.

I was learning about international legal practice in Cyprus as well as Cyprus law. I used to work closely with one of the senior lawyers in the firm and assist with all aspects of that lawyer’s work. One of the most interesting tasks was to go to Supreme Court of Cyprus together with lawyers from my work and  study differences between courts and legal systems in Lithuania and Cyprus.

Cyprus (and capital city Nicosia) is divided with Turkey to the north. There is something evocatively appealing about dipping into two very different cultures so effortlessly as well as two different landscapes – first, there are an amazing beaches with crystal clear water and just an hour away by car leads to interior with pine-clad mountains, sweeping valleys and densely planted vineyards.

During this traineeship I adapted both personally and professionally. I learned intercultural communication and improved my own knowledge of English language. I left the comforts of home to immerse myself in an entirely new culture, pushing the boundaries of what I am capable of. I could say that the travel and life experience acquired through Erasmus traineeship abroad was as much important as the professional experience.

International internships are incredibly worthwhile endeavors that everyone should seek out in order to be successful in the rapidly globalizing world of today.
